An understanding of functions is critical to success in upper mathematics and in our adult lives outside of school as well. In "Milk Carton Apartments", students engage in a visual and kinesthetic activity that helps them understand the concept of linear functions. Slope-intercept form emerges naturally from this empowering approach.
